OnMed, the leader in hybrid healthcare expanding access to care through the CareStation, today announced a new partnership with Jackson Health System, Miami’s only public health system, and The Salvation Army to bring essential medical care closer to home in Miami’s Allapattah neighborhood. Sponsored by Jackson, the CareStation will be deployed at The Salvation Army’s Miami location at 1907 NW 38th St., providing residents with convenient access to licensed clinicians in a private, technology-enabled care environment.
As workforce shortages and rising emergency room utilization strain traditional models of care, health systems across the United States are increasingly looking beyond brick and mortar options to provide comprehensive care directly in the communities they serve.
“Healthcare shouldn’t begin only when someone walks into a hospital. It should happen wherever people live, work and gather. That’s exactly what this partnership makes possible,” said Karthik Ganesh, CEO of OnMed. “Jackson Health System and The Salvation Army share a commitment to meeting people where they are. Every CareStation becomes another front door into the healthcare system.”
The CareStation enables patients to walk in without an appointment and connect with a licensed clinician in a private, AI-supported care environment equipped with integrated diagnostic tools. During a single visit, patients can receive an evaluation, diagnosis, treatment plan and, when appropriate, an electronic prescription, bringing convenient primary and urgent care closer to where they live.
For residents in Allapattah, accessing routine healthcare can present logistical and economic challenges that often delay treatment. By placing care within a trusted community location, the partnership aims to make everyday health care more accessible, while creating another point of entry into the broader health care system.
Partnerships like this one illustrate how hospitals, community organizations, and OnMed can work together to create new entry points into care for individuals who need care closer to home, while strengthening connections to existing provider networks.
“As Miami-Dade County’s only public health system and one of the county’s leading healthcare providers, Jackson Health System is always looking for innovative ways to expand access to care beyond the walls of our hospitals and clinics,” said Javier Gutierrez, assistant vice president of operations and value stream integration at Jackson Health System. “Our mission is to build the health of our community by providing high-quality care to all residents of Miami-Dade County, regardless of their ability to pay. Through our partnership with OnMed and The Salvation Army, we’re bringing trusted care closer to where people live, and making it easier for residents to get the care they need, when and where they need it.”
The CareStation is designed to be rapidly deployed without new construction or permanent on-site clinical staffing, allowing health systems and community organizations to expand access in neighborhoods where additional care capacity is needed. The deployment at The Salvation Army reflects how community-based partnerships can complement existing healthcare infrastructure by bringing care closer to patients while maintaining referrals into the hospital system.
“People already come to The Salvation Army seeking hope during some of life’s most difficult moments,” said Major Gene Hogg, Salvation Army Miami Area Commander. “By partnering with Jackson Health System and OnMed, we’re able to connect the Allapattah community with healthcare in the same trusted environment where they already receive support.“
The Miami deployment expands OnMed’s growing presence across Florida and reflects increasing interest among healthcare providers, employers, educational institutions and community organizations in distributed models of care that improve access outside traditional healthcare facilities. The tech-enabled, AI-powered, human-delivered CareStation helps organizations extend care into the communities where people live, work and gather.
